Wild-Caught Red Ica Discus, Dark Base

Everywhere you go today, your senses are bombarded from all directions. Gone are the trees and what we have are tall buildings that try to reach the sky. We have bright billboards that scream “look at me” and “buy me.” There are even occasions when you’ll see most people neck-bent and eyes glued onto their mobile phones and simply forgetting everything around them– such as a nice sunset.

Looking at the Red Ica Discus, gives me a certain sense of calm. This fish reminds me of the sunset. It is such a presence with its bright colors in a mix of red, orange, and yellow. It gracefully moves and magnets attention just like how the sunset mesmerizes me as it transforms the sky into a kaleidoscope. All you really need to do is just look and enjoy the view. It’s wonderful how this small, beautiful creature helps me relax amid all the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Our daily grind can be really tough most of the time but the Red Ica Discus is a good reminder that we have to stop (or step back) and enjoy the simple things in life.
