Sunny Lo Wing-Yat and Rocky Ng, breeders from Hong Kong, selectively bred two types of wild Red Spotted Green discus that originated from different areas and were not genetic mutations. This man made strain took roughly eight years to cultivate, and could be found on the marketplace in 1993. There are several variations of the Leopard Skin discus based on the size of the spots, with some having rings as well as spots and some with rings within rings, which look like blue highlights within red rings.
