Straight-Line Royal Flora Discus

The Straight-Line Royal Flora Discus will add brilliant shades of fiery red and cool turquoise to your tank. This fish is named for its flat, round contours, with only the caudal fin interrupting its elliptical shape. The Straight-Line Royal Flora also watches its surroundings with emerald red eyes highlighted by a dark stripe across its head. Sizes of 5.5 – 6.0″ and 6.0 – 6.5″ are available. The shimmering, streaking patterns of this Discus can be quite mesmerizing as it glides across your tank.

Since the 1980s, I have been drawn to the pop art of Keith Haring. With his zig-zag lines stylized and round figures, Haring evoked the 1980s downtown street culture of New York City, and I had been lucky enough to be in New York at the same time. Skateboards, lace gloves, punk music – sold on LP records! It was an amazing time.

Seeing the Straight Line Royal Flora Discus takes me back to that time of being young in a long-gone New York. The zig zag lines, the bandit-like stripe around the eyes — this fish could have been the mascot of the East Village back in the day.
