Have you ever seen the movie Tron? I’m talking about the 1982 original. The less said about the delayed 2010 sequel Tron: Legacy the better. Tron starred Jeff Bridges before every role he took was some version of a grizzled cowboy or cowboy-adjacent gentleman. His character is essentially digitized and put into a computer’s mainframe where programs appear human. Bridges is put into a series of deadly games, including the iconic light cycle duel. Does it all hold up? Perhaps not, but the look of the film was so distinct, such a strong image of what the world of 1982 imagined the future would be.

This fish is like the movie Tron in animal form. Look at that bright blue hue. It’s the ’80s vision of the future swimming in your tank. Many movies have a generic look. So do many fish. You can’t say that about Tron, though, and you can’t say it about this fish. It will always announce itself with its color. If another iconic Bridges character, The Dude from The Big Lebowski, had a couple of these fish in a tank, well, let’s just say he’d probably spend hours staring at them swimming around. Who’s to say you couldn’t follow in his footsteps?
